Macooler — Mac Fan Control & Temperature Monitor
Cool down, speed up, and take control of your Mac.
Macooler is a native macOS app that shows your Mac's live CPU and GPU
temperature, CPU and memory usage, battery health, network and disk
insight — and lets you take control of the fans to cool your Mac down
and keep it fast under heavy load. Free to download for Apple Silicon
(M1–M4) and Intel Macs, macOS 13 Ventura and later.
What Macooler does
- Live temperature monitoring. Watch CPU, GPU and battery temperature in real time, with a heads-up before your Mac runs hot.
- Fan control on Apple Silicon & Intel. Take real control of your Mac's fans to cool it down under load — including M1, M2, M3 and M4 Macs where many older tools no longer work — then return to automatic when you're done.
- Performance & processes. See what's using your CPU and memory in real time and stop a runaway process in one click.
- Disk insight. Visualize your storage and find the largest folders and files to free up space.
- Battery health. Track battery health and cycle count and manage charging to extend its lifespan.
- Menu-bar monitoring. Keep temperature, fans and load one glance away in the menu bar.

Frequently asked questions
Can Macooler control my Mac's fan speed?
Yes. Macooler includes manual fan control so you can spin your Mac's fans up to cool it down under heavy load, then hand control back to macOS when you're done.
How do I cool down a MacBook that gets hot?
Macooler shows your CPU and GPU temperature live and lets you increase fan speed to bring it down. It also highlights the apps and processes generating the most load so you can quit or throttle them.
How do I check my Mac's CPU and GPU temperature?
Macooler reads your Mac's sensors and shows live CPU, GPU and battery temperature in the app and in the menu bar.
Does fan control work on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4)?
Yes. Macooler is built for modern Apple Silicon and gives you real fan control on M1, M2, M3 and M4 Macs — including the newer chips where many older fan-control tools no longer work — as well as Intel Macs, on macOS 13 and later. Note: the MacBook Air is fanless, so fan control applies to Macs with a fan (like the MacBook Pro); on the Air, Macooler still monitors temperature.
Is it safe to control my Mac's fans?
Fan control adjusts speed within the range your Mac's hardware allows and doesn't override the built-in limits that protect it. When you quit Macooler, your fans return to macOS automatic control.
Is Macooler free?
Macooler is free to download and includes live monitoring, temperature tracking and disk insight. Macooler Pro unlocks advanced features as a monthly ($4.99) or yearly ($39.99) subscription.
